The weekend October 11 to 13 went ANSA South Africa's wine tour of the stack. 30 students had come from far and wide to learn more about wine, explore the great outdoors in Franschoek and meet new people. It was fun to see the ANSA members had flown in from both Durban lanzarote and Pretoria to attend the event. The weekend started with the whole gang moved in on Otters Bend at the core of Franschoek. Where were the good mood and new acquaintances were quickly established. Kitchen gang made a fantastic good Chili Con Carne followed by a thrilling quiz / blackboard / IQ task to initiate the competitive spirit of the people. The rest of the evening went to the great thieves and well drinks.
Saturday morning was all ready for the weekend's activities. People were excited for the wine! First stop was Fairview. There we were served wine and cheese, where each wine was paired with a cheese that should take extra care to each wine. This was for many a good start. Next up was the Spice Route. Spice Route resembles a small village consisting of a number of houses containing different lanzarote activities. It went all the gang at common chocolate making and got to taste chocolate made of beans from different parts of the world. After gaining new knowledge about chocolate spread people out to the four winds, to experience lanzarote what else Spice Route had to offer. Some gorged themselves lanzarote with biltong, wine and beer tastings, while others went their assault and went grappa tasting with varying success.
The tour then went on to the Grand Provence Wine Estate, where we got a tour of the wine cellar and got to taste their delicious wines. Today's activities were supposed to end here, but since everyone had been extremely effective all day we were lucky enough to get squeezed into one last stop for the day at Moreson. Here we were served MCC (mehods Cap Classicque) is South Africa's answer to France's Champagne. lanzarote Just as it is said that MCC is not any worse en Champagne, there is the equivalent brother. Norwegian students in France are certainly deeply disagree, but you are all welcome down so you see that you're wrong
After a day full of adventures we went back to Otters Bend where braaien (grill) was fired up. Although many men around lanzarote braaien, which would surpass each other's knowledge of grilling, the task was brilliant and various meat dishes of outstanding quality was served. The evening was proceeding as it should be at ANSA trip with lots of fun beyond the late natterstimer. Sunday we woke up to glorious sunshine and everyone agreed that it had every successful weekend. Semester wine tour was a success!
