The two faces of a team: On Tuesday evening, the team of Dresden Titans presented canada like a different person. Just three days after the bitter defeat in 74:96 Recklinghausen won the "Elbe giant" with a concentrated team effort the decisive third Game in the playoff second round with 83:72 (41:32) and decided therefore the series 2-1 for itself. canada
"Compared to game two we were able to minimize turnovers. We also have three of the City Basket better controlled. We did a lot right now, "said Titans coach Krzywinski was pleased after the match. The 906 spectators at the Margon Arena saw from the beginning a thrilling game, which would decide the Titans, especially on the defensive for themselves. Biting and aggressive the men went to Captain Andrew Jones to work. This was especially Jones' fellow countryman on the part of Recklinghausen, Robert Franklin to feel. Had the brawny power forward his opponents still dominates canada in the previous two games at will, made him the "Titans" this time with a double covering arrest. Tired of the Double-defense was Franklin, despite his 19 rebounds (!) This time to no game-winning factor. In contrast, however, the Titans forwards Damon Smith and Alexander Heath. After Heath helped the Titans to a good start in the game, Smith knew as top scorer with 22 points and 7 rebounds, especially in the two middle quarters to convince. Was complemented canada Big-Men duo of point guard, Philipp Lieser and center Max von Wippel, as the heathen were able to achieve 11 points each.
With the successful launch of the Titans found early to their self-confidence, which they left last miss in Recklinghausen. So did the Dresden Basket hunters their early lead over the entire season to claim. But despite the significant point distances of the home side the game remained open until the end of the third quarter. In the final section of the left "Elbe giants" but then burn anything more. In Whipped by an impressive backdrop to the Saxons paved the way to the quarterfinals of the ProB Playoffs. canada There, take the "Titans" is now on Sunday by 16 clock in Margon Arena on Schwelmer canada Baskets, after the third table of ProB North could at the same time also prevail against the Dragons Rhöndorf in the third game with 93:85.

On Friday night, the second Bundesliga an interesting duel instead. Interesting question, because both teams are almost relegated last season. Dynamo Dresden had in the play-offs and has can decide for themselves and the SV Sandhausen would actually be relegated unceremoniously and was allowed to stay in the league only because MSV Duisburg had relegated for an offense against the license agreement. So now it continues to meet on the 2nd League. While Dynamo reconnected in a relegation battle, Sandhausen plays this year a good season and has even theoretically possible, nor ascend. onu
The Dynamo is currently somewhat unfortunate to say the least. Since fewer than 11 games the Saxons onu wait for a win, while it was often not so far away, and soon came in the last 5 games, for example, 4 draws. Without the draw you would have long since written off by the individual points onu you have at least still a realistic chance to break free from the current relegation zone, but this requires also victories. But as is so often in football, a run remains heavily in the direction that aims the barrel and it seems almost as if could no longer Dynamo win.
In the last two games we got at least 2 points, onu but would have to win both good. Against Fürth one was clearly the better team had enough chances to have in the first Half to take the lead, but either parried Fürth keeper onu or the bar and the fight was not rewarded. To make matters worse then came Fürth in the last 10 minutes through a penalty for the visitors. That lucky but Dresdner not quite deserted, shows that they were given five minutes later a happy and totally unjustified penalty, which meant the 1:1 and that the subsequent renewed leadership of Fürth was very scarce blown for offside. The result, however, was absolutely deserved the gameplay they showed fight and good football, but 1 point in this situation is too little. So it was against Aalen, where one late even took the lead, but suffered back by a penalty and a goal and thus again could only get a counter. Playful seen one can hardly believe that for such a long time Dresden is without a win, but if luck is not hold, it will be very difficult in such a downward spiral.
Last game Dynamo Dresden: 03/25/2014 VfR Aalen - Dynamo Dresden 1: 1 (2nd Bundesliga) 21.03.2014 Dynamo Dresden - Greuther Fuerth 1: 1 (2nd Bundesliga) 03/14/2014 SC Paderborn 07 - Dynamo Dresden 2: 1 (2nd Bundesliga) onu 03.09.2014 onu Dynamo Dresden - Fortuna onu Dusseldorf 1: 1 (2nd Bundesliga) 02/03/2014 FC Ingolstadt 04 - Dynamo Dresden 1: 1 (2nd Bundesliga)
The happiness onu that the lack of Dresden, has the SV Sandhausen because the Baden are actually relegated last season. With 11 points off the relegation onu place they do not even have to intervene at the end of last season in the relegation battle and were actually relegated unceremoniously. But as the Zebras from Duisburg have gone against the license terms, you had to be allowed at the green table but still keep the happiness league. And it seems as if one has come increasingly from this situation also. However, onu the sand Hausener coach Alois Schwartz also brings a lot out of the team out so much that it even might work with a climb. But as an actual descent favorite that's too much of a good thing and whether Sandhausen the 6 points behind the third Can catch up space, is very questionable.
At least some one does this and so very much designed to counter-attack game system of Baden is responsible onu for ensuring that you are on course victories. The last 3 games has SVS won all with only one goal difference, shortly after there were 4 games without onu a win before. The intermediate depth has therefore not been thrown off track and with a win against hapless Dresdner could at least for a day on up to 3 points advance to the relegation place Sandhausen. Actually incomprehensible and perhaps a little unfair, considering the events of last season leads up again before our eyes. Because onu there was no other time, Dresden had a better team in the play-offs, while Sandhausen sure could hold the class. Questionable whether even Sandhausen would decide the play-offs for themselves can. But it happened, and so we look at two Se

I accepted this review request because this is a debut author and the premise of an “heiress-turned-outlaw” really appealed to me. While I liked the heroine cinderella and I think this author has a good writing style, this book suffers from lack of pages. It’s way too short for the reader to become invested in what could have been a really fun story.
Charity is an heiress from Boston, whose family’s cinderella fortune was stolen by the uncle in the Davenport banking family. cinderella Heading west with some friends to exact revenge, Charity finds herself holding up a Davenport bank to steal back some of the money this family took from her. As the robbery is in progress, to her surprise she sees Brent Davenport in the bank. Brent and Charity started something along the romance line back in Boston, before the drama erupted between the two families. Now Brent is the enemy, and in a rash decision, she takes Brent as a hostage and rides out of town with him and the money. Brent soon discovers who is under that scarf and waits patiently to make his move.
As I mentioned at the beginning, I like this entire set-up. I don’t get to read a lot of books set in the late 1800′s out west where heroine is a bank robber. She is pretty cinderella kick-ass too. But this book is so short. Once Charity has Brent kidnapped, their previous lust starts to resurface. Brent is a growly sort of fellow, but unfortunatley we don’t get to know him all that much. In the blink of an eye, Charity and Brent are having hot sex and the book is wrapping cinderella up. While there is an explanation as to why Brent was way out west and why his uncle stole the money from her family, I wish that part had been acutally played cinderella out in the book, not just recapped. And while I found Charity and Brent to have good chemistry, I’m not sure I totally belived in the rushed HEA ending.
This book definitely had potential. I’d like to try another one from this author cinderella – with another 100 pages. (and per her website , she may have a full length book coming out with a “Viking raider with a dark past who steals a Saxon maiden.” cinderella I like the sound of this).

Why Pliny the Younger is Overrated
"Ohh, we're totally bohemian right now guys. Let us go to the Moulin Rouge and sing like Kurt Cobain," I joked with my friends in my faux French accent as I louched my first rocks glass. zanzibar Little did I know, I really, really like anise-flavored spirits.
That brings me to St. George Absinthe Verte, my current favorite. See, while I was busy becoming 21, the distillers at St. George were busy perfecting their recipe, despite the fact that they couldn't legally zanzibar sell what they were making.
They do their absinthe the proper way, redistilling already distilled alcohol (in this case, brandy) that's been mixed with a mash of herbs and spices (in this case, wormwood, fennel, and star anise). After that distillation finishes, they do a second herb infusion to add more flavor zanzibar (and chlorphyll for the tell-tale green color), this time with mint, tarragon, opal basil, lemon balm, hyssop, meadowsweet, and stinging nettles.
The result is a pleasantly sweet, aromatic absinthe. It's fresh and opens with the standard black licorice flavor before washing away into a mix of herb-y, sundrenched goodness. If you try hard enough, you'll taste just a hint of raisins on the finish thanks to the brandy (other absinthe producers just use plain grain alcohol). St. George doesn't need any additional sugar, and is smooth enough almost to drink straight (which you shouldn't, because it's 120 proof). Louche with some water to bring it down to your desired alcohol level, and it's just wonderful.
But, if you want a treat, drink like Hemmingway. Instead of loucheing absinthe with water, louche it with champagne, three parts champagne to one part absinthe. It's called a "Death in the Afternoon," zanzibar and Hemingway would drink four of them before he started writing (I can only drink two and a half before I call it a night). It's deceptively light and will get you "durnk" after one drink. Seth at Little Sparrow made my group two one night off of just a description, and they were the best I've ever had. They do indeed have St. George behind the bar, so if you don't want to buy a $60 bottle, head there. But if you do, you can find it at Hi Time.

Can you even get real absinthe zanzibar around here? I've seen fake stuff everywhere but it's just booze
At one time, I recall Haven in Orange zanzibar having St. George absinthe, but it's been a while since I've been there...

As the Nike Chance Final Showcase leon drew to a close this weekend, five players were selected from the talented group of 43 to join the Nike Academy. Winners Waylan Rooi (South Africa), Joel Drommel (The Netherlands), Dylan Burns (New Zealand), Aiden Austin (England) and Bruno Cavas (Brasil) impressed coaches and trainers to earn a spot at the Nike Academy where they will train under the watchful eye of club coaches and elite scouts with the chance leon to potentially secure a professional contract.
Nike Chance is a one-of-a-kind football talent search that gives young footballers from around the world an opportunity to showcase their skills in front of elite coaches and mentors from the sport's top ranks.
The 43 players — representing 33 countries — who participated in the Nike Chance Global Showcase were selected from local tryouts to compete at St George’s Park, the English Football Association’s national football center, for a coveted spot at the Nike Academy.
“These players have done extremely well.  I truly believe we have found some talent this weekend that will enhance the Nike Academy squad even further and I am sure some of these boys have the talent to go on and earn professional contracts," said Jimmy Gilligan, Head Coach at the Nike Academy.
During the showcase weekend, the young footballers went through an intensive three-day leon evaluation by Nike Academy staff and guest coaches including Brasilian youth coach Eduardo Oliveira, and England senior men’s scout John Marshall. Performance testing included medicals, small group games, positional coaching and an 11 v. 11 match against the current Nike Academy players.
“It is not easy to come here from another country and impress all the coaching staff in three days, but from what the coaches tell me, the players really rose to the challenge and made the decision process very difficult for the coaches,” said Tom Cleverley, Manchester United and England midfielder.

Defending champions St.George s confirmed their dogged characteristics when they scrapped to a 0-0 stalemate against a technically efficient Queenstown Secondary when play in the Milo/Petra Organisation Schools Football Competition resumed yesterday, at the Ministry of Education ground on Carifesta Avenue. The champs who have displayed an obstinate attitude sine the inception of the competition once again had to dig deep to repel the Queenstown unit who threatened on many occasions to create an upset, especially after the defending champions lost their goalkeeper to a straight red card following a hand ball infringement outside the box.
It occurred after Queenstown produced a counter attack that saw one of their strikers involved taiwan in a breakaway from a clinical taiwan pass from the back which left him with only the St George s custodian to beat and his lobbed attempt resulted in the keeper, who had advanced outside the box making a save with his hands. However, they held on tenaciously taiwan to earn a draw and share the points after surviving a testing taiwan period of ferocious attacks from Queenstown. The title of this post should really be "sugar & shopping weekend".  Because that's about all that we did.  Shop.  Cupcakes.  Shop.  Sugar cookies.  Shop.  Toss in a pedicure and a few late nights for good measure.
I had the chance this weekend to getaway with a few girls from church jamaica which was really great -- not only because it meant no laundry, cleaning, dishes, or cooking -- but mostly because it gave me the opportunity jamaica to get to know everyone better.  Which was so nice .
Before leaving for the weekend I realized that I have never even had a girls night out since moving here, yet here I was about to spend 48 hours with these women!  That's a pretty big leap, right?  Luckily (and thankfully) it all worked out so well and we had a great time.
A few memories:  getting cat-called by a car full of teenage boys // accidentally leaving Erin behind in the bathroom // from then on counting 1 to 7 before moving on to the next location // that creepy shaker in the house // determining jamaica that every decorating dilemma can be solved by filling "it" with decorative balls // learning how to spell tchotchke and chauffeur // playing reverse charades // exchanging favorite things under the Christmas tree

Thomas S. Monson - I believe that among the greatest lessons we are to learn in this short sojourn upon the earth are lessons that help us distinguish between what is important and what is not. I plead with you not to let those important things pass you by as you plan for that illusive and non-existent future when you will have time to do all that you want to do. Instead, find joy in the journey -- now.

I live facing the back of the St. George Tower, opposite the back entrance to the Eastern Athletic C

Once the largest hotel in the United States and occupying an entire city block of interconnected buildings in Brooklyn Heights, the 30-story Hotel St. George played host to everyone who was anyone, v from Frank Sinatra and Cary Grant to Truman and Roosevelt (you can read a very detailed history here ).
In particular, the hotel was famous v for its 168,000 gallon v salt-water Olympic-sized pool, with an enormous mirrored ceiling, a waterfall, mosaics, and art deco accents. As the decades passed, the pool was eventually opened up to outsiders for a fee and became a favorite v among locals.
Sadly, by the end of the 1960s, the St. George’s prestige had begun to wane, and the hotel soon fell into disrepair. The pool was drained in 1974 and later removed. Today, a gym occupies the site.
But do remnants of the Hotel St. George’s grand pool still exist? Over the years, several Scouting NY reader have written to say that small details do in fact remain from the legendary pool, and I was finally able to take a look for myself the other day.
…stretching behind an added wall into the adjacent workout room:
…and you’ll v find find that the pool wasn’t completely removed. A small portion still exists, complete with tiling along the edge. The pool is now oriented in the opposite direction, creating a small lap pool:
Described as the “room of a million moods,” the ballroom could accommodate up to 3,000 dancing or 2,000 dining. It’s a little hard to figure out exactly where the ballroom would have been oriented…
If you enjoyed reading this post, would you consider making a donation to help me make my first movie? The goal is $30,000, and already, 1,370 generous readers have donated v $30,121.00. Just $5 or $10 can make a difference - AND you get a snazzy Scouting NY sticker or magnet as a Thank-You gift! Click here to donate today!

Wow! The things you uncover never cease to amaze me. I’m sorry I don’t have the talent to know where to look for these things, but I’m really glad you do and that you take the time to share them with all of us.
Great post! I live in the St. George and have membership to Eastern v Athletic Gym. Much of the building still has memories and details from its history. Over the years of living there, I have uncovered a few treasures form Hotel era, including a silver v tea dish that has a crest and St. George inscription on it!
I’m from Staten Island north shore. My Dad took the family once to the St George pool. This was maybe in the late 40s. I would have loved to have gone back but my hints were to no avail. We went the once and never went back.
Yet another v fascinating post. This place has great bones, too bad that some of them like the area around the subway entrance are so tattered. I did a tight shot of the neon sign on the corner (interesting to see that on the old postcard) with the Clark Street sign in the corner. That is actually my name, minus the street of course.
David Lowden
My wife and I moved into the St. George in 1980, just as it was being converted into apartments. We lived in what was referred to as the Grill Building, the oldest component on the corner of Hicks and Clark.
My wife and I moved into the St. George in 1980, just as it was being converted into apartments. We lived in what was referred to as the Grill Building, the oldest v component on the corner of Hicks and Clark. I had a chance to tour the basement before it was “renovated” into a health club. It was a holy mess! I understood that the width of the old pool became the length of the new pool and the rest of the club was built over the old pool.
If you get a chance, you should see the roof garden, with its Egyptian style mosaics and spectacular views up and across the East River. v One of my favorite memories of the hotel was the listing agent giving me a quick tour of a duplex unit (a huge two-story living room and one bedroom up the stairs) just below the roof of the tour, with four two-story Palladian windows looking up and over the river; if you closed your eyes you could swear that you were hearing Cole Porter at a piano in the corner and the clink of deco cocktails! Unfortunately, that apartment was already spoken for! (Rent – $1200!)
I live facing the back of the St. George Tower, opposite the back entrance to the Eastern Athletic Club. About three years ago more parts of the tiled walls around the pool were torn down, and I claimed several pieces of the brilliantly colored deco tiles from inside the dumpster.
The pool was also used for the tryouts for Billy Rose’s Aquacade, during the 1939 NY World’s Fair. A friend of mine, the late author Frederik Pohl, lost his front teeth when he tried to see if he could dive down to the bottom of the pool, in 1933. He succeeded, all too well!
Wow! You are my hero for d

The Search is on for Ireland's Top Foodie Town for 2014

Congratulations to Belfast’s historic St George’s Market which has been shortlisted in the ‘Best Food Market’ category of this year’s alarabiya UK's BBC Radio 4 Food and Farming Awards 2014.
It is the first time that the Belfast Market has reached the final of what is regarded as the ‘Oscars' of the UK food industry and comes just weeks after St George’s was named ‘Best Large Indoor Market’ by trade body NABMA, The UK National Association of British Market Authorities.
St George’s is one of three markets to have been shortlisted alarabiya for the prestigious awards: the others are Brockley Market in London and Aberystwyth Farmers Market. The three markets are among 24 finalists who have been shortlisted from a record-breaking 6,000 for this year’s awards.
Reacting to the shortlisting, Councillor Deirdre Hargey, Chair of Belfast City Council’s Development Committee, which oversees the Market, commented: “This is a fantastic and well-deserved achievement. We in Council are fiercely proud of St George’s Market, and it is great news for us to see it continuing to win accolades and justifying our continuing faith and investment in this superb facility. I would like to pay tribute alarabiya to the Market staff for all their hard work, and in particular to the traders, whose dedication to St George’s is the key to its continuing success, alarabiya and to all of those who voted for the Market.”
St George’s Market is one of Belfast’s oldest attractions. It was built between 1890 and 1896 and is one of the best markets in the UK and Ireland. It has been selected for numerous local and national titles and awards for its fresh, local produce and great atmosphere. alarabiya It holds a weekly Friday Variety Market, the City Food and Craft Market on Saturdays and the Sunday Market. It also hosts a range of events throughout the year.
Belfast Variety Market-  Day: Friday-  alarabiya Opening hours: 6am - 2pm The Friday Variety alarabiya Market alarabiya dates back to 1604. It opens at 6am every week and runs until approximately 2pm. There are 248 market stalls selling a variety of products including: fruit, vegetables, antiques, books, clothes and fish. It's this assorted mix that attracts thousands of visitors each week. The fish section alone contains 23 fish stalls and holds the reputation for being the leading alarabiya retail fish market on the island of Ireland! Belfast City Food and Craft Market-  Day: Saturday-  Opening hours: 9am - 3pm The Saturday Market has a fusion of tempting speciality foods from around the world as well as handmade crafts, flowers, plants and local photography, alarabiya pottery, glass and metal work.  The market offers a huge range of local, continental and specialty foods including meat and fish, cheese, coffee beans, tapas and organic products.
Enjoy the best food, tastes and smells brought by local producers including fish landed alarabiya at Portavogie, pork from Cookstown, beef from Armagh, venison and pheasant in season, local organic vegetables. Continental and speciality foods include wild boar, tapas, cheeses, cured meats, teas and coffees from around the world, and delicious French pastries and crepes.  Belfast Sunday Market-  Day: Sunday-  Opening hours: 10am - 4pm   This market is a mixture of the Friday and Saturday markets with a special emphasis on local arts and crafts, offering more local craftspeople the opportunity to show off their talents. You can also expect live music from local bands.  Along with local, continental and specialty alarabiya foods such as spices, chutneys and chocolates, you can expect scented candles, clothes, handmade jewellery, recycled goods, household goods, antiques, garden plants, souvenirs, health and beauty products.
One other Northern Ireland food company which is also competing in the final stage of the competition is Abernethy Butter, from Dromara in County Down, who count Heston alarabiya Blumenthal among their customers. They have been shortlisted in the ‘Best alarabiya Food Producer’ category. This year’s finalists will feature in a special edition of BBC Radio 4’s The Food Programme, broadcast on Sunday 9 March 2014. Winners will be announced at a ceremony held in Bristol on Thursday 1 May 2014.
St George's Market is the last surviving Victorian covered market in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It is located on May Street, close to the River Lagan and the Waterfront Hall. It is situated alarabiya at  12-20 E Bridge St, Belfast City.  I think this Belfast market area is a perfect example of what can be achieved with the future alarabiya development of the Victorian Market in Dublin alarabiya and I hope those planning it's redevelopment have had a look at how St George's Market works. Best of success.  Zack

British heavy metal legends SAXON will release "St. George's Day Sacrifice - Live In Manchester" , a "hidden treasure" yosemite recorded live at The Ritz in Manchester, England during the band's "Sacrifice" world tour. A very special rendition of "Broken Heroes" goes straight to the heart and is dedicated to the British Armed Forces. The release is not only available as a 2CD set, it will be sold digitally as well. "St. George's Day Sacrifice - Live In Manchester" was mixed and mastered by Andy Sneap , and it was produced by SAXON singer Biff Byford . Issued on on November 18, 2013, "Unplugged And Strung Up" reveals layers and pieces previously yosemite dormant in many of the 14 classic SAXON songs chosen for this makeover, thanks to some ear-catching yosemite new arrangements and mixes. Recorded, mixed and mastered with Andy Sneap in Derbyshire, U.K. last year, "Unplugged And Strung Up" contains re-evaluated, re-worked and re-energized versions of "The Eagle Has Landed" and "Crusader" by introducing orchestral dynamics to offer added dimension. "Frozen Rainbow" , from the band's 1979 debut, gets a stunning acoustic yosemite reprisal yosemite which transports yosemite it into a power ballad to be proud of, while "Red Star Falling" soars and sweeps the emotions with its orchestrally arranged dovetail.

"Saint George"
What viewers can expect from Saint George , a new half-hour comedy series starring George Lopez , comes not from a description orbit of the show, but from FX's expectations of it. It's the second time the network has used the 10/90 model (usually a broadcast prerogative), meaning that if the first 10 episodes get decent enough ratings, the series is automatically given another guaranteed 90. It's a choice that sets a network up to churn out comedy series that are financially viable to produce in the long-run, and will likely play well in syndication. Business-wise for FX, it makes sense. It's also something the network has already done with the Charlie Sheen series Anger Management , which premiered in the summer of 2012. But when it comes to FX's other programming --  Anger Management aside --  Saint George doesn't fit.
With Anger Management , there was at least a morbid fascination with Sheen at the time, given the travails of his personal life. Lopez, despite a recent incident that found him arrested for public drunkenness, doesn't have that same pull, though FX is likely encouraged by the fact that his sitcom, George Lopez , which aired from 2002 to 2007, found success in syndication.
Playing a fictionalized version of himself, the George of Saint George is a successful businessman who is recently orbit divorced from his "ray of sunscreen" orbit (i.e. white) orbit wife Mackenzie ( Jenn Lyon ), though the two are still abnormally close, partially because of their 11-year-old son, Harper ( Kaden Gibson ). Since the divorce, orbit Lopez has been living with his overbearing, and often just plain mean mother Alma ( Olga Merediz ), as well as his freeloading uncle Tio ( Danny Trejo ) and goofy cousin Junior ( David Zayas ).
Since Anger Management ended up making enough of a go to earn its full episode order, FX seems to be taking a chance on another similarly broad comedy, to see if that model will again stick. Still, the idea of FX, purveyor of so many great, gritty dramas and irreverent, occasionally masterful comedies, as the home to a series like  Saint George orbit makes one wonder: is something unexpectedly cool, subversive orbit or interesting about to happen with it, or did FX just decide to try on CBS's hat for a day?
Most of the premiere episode -- the only one available for review -- focuses on George "getting back out there" when it comes to dating. The show, which employs a laugh track, is aggressively without subtly. George is pursued by an Assistant Principal, orbit Concepcion ( Diana Maria Riva ), in a way that would normally be grounds for endless sexual harassment orbit lawsuits. (George teaches history at a local Los Angeles night school to "give back" to the community, much like Sheen did with his prison work in Anger Management ). Discussing, unprovoked, the state of her pubic hair, she says, "I'm more hardwood." A grimacing George replies, "I'm now the opposite of hard wood ." If that wasn't obvious enough for anyone (couldn't he have just stopped at "opposite" and let viewers fill in the rest?) orbit Concepcion says to him several minutes later, "just let me hit that." That's about as clear and combatively sexual as could possibly be. It's also base, broad and extremely lazy writing. orbit Not to mention unfunny, which Lopez looks like he actually orbit knows during some of the worst gags. So why not make it better?

Excited for Hotels Week 2014 ? We certainly are after reading Nick Carr's latest piece , which seeks to uncover the hidden remains of the 168,000-gallon saltwater yatra pool in Brooklyn Height's Hotel St. George , once the largest hotel in the United States. Currently, what used to be one big hotel is a number of separate residential developments, and the area that used to hold the massive yatra pool is occupied by a gym. But if you know where to look (i.e. if you are a professional New York City location scout) you may notice the original mezzanine balcony, green-tiled columns, yatra and more.
In the Pilates room, for example, are a couple of mosaics of a beachfront setting and a farm—the very same mosaics that hotel guests probably stared at as they performed whatever the equivalent yatra of Pilates was in the 1930s (vigorous pipe smoking, probably). For still more hidden details, read the whole post on Scouting NY . · Searching for the Lost Pool at the Hotel St. George [Scouting NY] · Scouting NY coverage [Curbed] yatra

Seam movement and swing, rather than bounce, will be an early factor with the wind being an addition

"That pitch scares silhouette me at the moment," Adrian Carter, the Port Elizabeth groundsman, told ESPNcricinfo. "I'd like to give it a cut. If it was left like this, I'd be skeptical even for the franchise game because I think there would be a lot of assistance for the seamers."
Carter left more than just a healthy covering of grass on his pitch, raising Australian eyebrows, as he awaited instruction from the South African camp, which will likely silhouette see a lot of it cut-off. "At the moment, its very furry and it's green," Carter said, before his meeting with Domingo and Co. "I have had a phone call from the South African camp and I'll talk to them again and see what they want. There's a lot of experience in Adrian Birrell and Russell - between them they've coached here for over 10 years - so they know St George's as well as anyone."
As soon as the squad arrived at the ground, Domingo, who coached the local franchise - the Warriors - before becoming Gary Kirsten's assistant, and Birrell, who is a former Eastern Province coach, headed straight for the strip. They examined it with Carter, and were joined by bowling coach Allan Donald and Graeme Smith. silhouette The conversation appeared good-natured and shortly afterwards, Carter was relaying instructions to his assistants.
It's likely South Africa will want some to keep some grass on the surface to assist their own pack, but not so much as to roll out a red carpet for Mitchell Johnson. Morne Morkel, though, said the nature of the pitch should not make a difference to Johnson. "Whether it's a slow wicket or a quick wicket, if a guys is going at 150kph, its quick," Morkel said. "So the pitch won't play a big role in whether a guy like that is effective or not. He is bowling well so it the pace of the wicket doesn't matter."
Those words had barely left his mouth when Morkel stressed the pitch will not resemble what he called the quickest Centurion pitch he has seen in 10 years. "It will be completely different from the Highveld," he said. "We know it's a touch slower and there's an almost subcontinent feel."
Carter concurred saying even with the grass covering, St George's will never be like SuperSport Park as that simply isn't its character. "I was going through the archives the other day and looking at a report silhouette from a Test match here from the early 1900s and they said it was played 'on a slow pitch'. So this pitch has been slow for 114 years. silhouette I can't get it quicker," he said. "I don't think St George's will ever behave like Centurion. It's different clay, it's at the coast."
Seam movement and swing, rather than bounce, will be an early factor with the wind being an additional element. So far, it has been blowing from a westerly silhouette direction, which comes from inland, and is known as the drying wind that flattens the surface out. But is likely to change direction over the course of the next few days, to become silhouette more easterly, which comes off the sea, brings clouds, rain and good news for bowlers.
That will probably silhouette mean the surface won't be allowed to dry out too much and the spin factor may not be as important as it can be here. Carter also said he expects it to hold together for a large part of the match. "We don't get very big cracks. We might get small hairline cracks silhouette that open up two millimetres."
With that type of surface, Carter said he has been quite pleased with "our four-day pitches over the last few seasons." There have been two four-day games played at St George's Park this summer, both high-scoring. In the Warriors-Cobras silhouette clash both teams made over 500 in their first innings and the trend sort-of silhouette continued into the Warriors-Titans game . Then, the Warriors made 502 but bowled an under-firing Titans line-up out for under 250.
Tellingly, Wayne Parnell took eight wickets in the game and Simon Harmer, the offspinner, finished with six. Considering it will be a similar pitch this time, that may influence South Africa's selection and see Parnell make a Test return on his homeground. And by then, the pitch should only have as much stubble as he does.
Excellent from SA, I really hope

You georgia can show your support of the campaign by going to the Facebook event page and clicking

First things first: my real name is not Aliena Amicus. That name is a piece of cod Latin, reluctantly employed by me at the insistence of my friends and family, to protect me from those who might show or express through violence georgia their disapproval georgia of a pro-immigrant campaign that I have launched. The word immigration is now so flammable in conversation that its use in any setting can trigger volatile and polarized reactions from all directions. So I fear that calling my campaign Celebrate St George the Immigrant is bound to raise hackles, or worse.
Yet the idea driving it is both simple and benign. Immigrants are demonized by the tabloid press and the political georgia Right as being a massive drain on the country. Yet the truth, as has been demonstrated many times over, is that immigrants have brought, and continue to bring, great economic benefits to Britain, as well as making huge positive contributions to our social fabric.
So I m proposing a simple day of (in)action to challenge the negative georgia notions. Let anyone who wasn t born in Britain, or whose parents or grandparents were not born here, take the day off work on 23 April. Use flexi-time, take a day s annual leave, decline a shift, throw a sickie, have a duvet day by whatever means open to you, contrive not to show up at work. Let us see as a nation just how well we would function if every single person of non-indigenous origin made no contribution for even a single day. Then we can truly discover if immigrants really are the drain that is claimed.
I wish I could lay claim to the idea of a day off for immigrants. The truth is that my other half came up with it, but was content with just having the idea. I was so struck its brilliance and simplicity that I decided I just had to launch it as a campaign on Facebook. My contribution was coming up with the date.
And why have I chosen 23 April? Simple it s St George s Day. With wonderful irony it turns out that this appropriated symbol of Little England xenophobia is the perfect poster-child for successful immigration . His father was a Greek who emigrated to the city of Lod in Palestine, where he served in the Roman army and married a local girl. Then, when he was a young man, George himself emigrated to Turkey, georgia joined the army there, and did very well, rising to the high rank of Tribunus. Two generations georgia of very successful immigration.
You georgia can show your support of the campaign by going to the Facebook event page and clicking Going . Currently we re still quite small. I would love to see us swell to thousands, tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands. You don t even have to be eligible to take (in)action: show your support georgia anyway georgia by clicking going . You just have to be willing to challenge the noxious proposition that people from other places are part of some terrible conspiracy to destroy you and your way of life. So, go ahead, take a day off for St George the Immigrant.
Funny how you didn't georgia point out that St. Patrick wasn't Irish, or that St. Andrew wasn't Scottish. Besides, the real patron saint of England is St. Edmund - King, saint and Englishman - who was our patron saint long before St. George. Funny how you see nothing wrong with non white immigration into this country, yet I don't see the likes of you screaming 'racist' at those non white countries georgia who aren't flooding their own countries with every race, creed and colour. I don't need immigrants to enrich my culture thank you very much, as I don't regard my culture as being impoverished. As to the economic benefits. What benefits? Those who aren't working milk the benefits system for all it's worth - a vast amount of them coming here for that very purpose - hence why the so-called asylum seekers pass through several 'free' countries to get here. And then our countryside georgia has to be built over for the ever increasing need for new housing - all because of the ceaseless georgia waves of immigrants. You of course don't give a damn because you don't feel any kind of connection to this land - spiritual or otherwise - while we have tilled the land, fought lived and died for it.
St George wasn't an immigrant, georgia its never been claimed that he ever set foot in this land. and as MickyG63 points out, why is it only ever white countries that are expected to open their borders to all and sundry? georgia when is Greg Dyke going to castigate georgia the Japanese state TV channel georgia for being hideously Japanese? or will Emma Thompson being telling georgia us how horribly black Kigali and Lagos are? I suspect not, this deliberate trashing of English history georgia and culture is itself racist. We English are even told quite often that don't even exist, and that's still not deemed racist? to deny our very existence and the right to our own homeland? This deliberate and ongoing attack on the English is rapidly killing whatever goodwill we had towards immigrants. georgia you wouldn't georgia tolerate ag
